How to Install Horse Waterers
Installation of the automatic waterer system is straight forward and our team is always close by to answer questions or give advice concerning specific needs. The unit may be installed in pastures or barns and can even service 2 stalls or multiple pastures.
Moderate Climate Automatic Waterer Installation Method
Frost lines must be 3 feet or less. We recommend using a backhoe to prep the ground.
Equipment Needed:
- Gravel for drain field
- Fittings to connect the waterline with our ½ inch poly pipe
- 18” i.d. Pipe sleeve to encase the drinker
- Swing Pipe Adaptor (can be the ones used for sprinklers or irrigation)
- Tar paper to cover the drain field, or landscaping to cover it to prevent soil contamination
It is important to know, the connection needs to be made outside the unit, not underneath.
Extreme Climate Automatic Waterer Installation Method
Frost lines are deeper than 3 feet. Common Climates where this method is recommended include: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont, North Dakota, South Dakota, and several parts of Canada.
Digging deeper will bring warmer air to travel upward into the valve area. Used tires are left hollow and the top tire needs to be 13” or 14” to act as a conduit to disperse up-flow of warm air.
Equipment Needed:
- Gravel for drain field
- 2-5 used tires
- Bubble foil insulation to wrap pipe sleeves 2-3 times
- Swing Pipe Adaptor (can be the ones used for sprinklers or irrigation)
- Fittings to connect the water line with our ½ inch poly pipe
- 18” i.d. Pipe sleeve to encase the drinker
- Tar paper to cover the drain field, or landscaping to cover it to prevent soil contamination
It is important to know, the connection needs to be made outside the unit, not underneath.
